Construction of the new Kaafu Huraa Health Centre building has officially commenced on 30 December, following the groundbreaking ceremony led by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.

The project, awarded to MTCC for MVR 27.23 million, will be completed within 360 days and consists of a two-storey, 15,650 sq ft facility with space for 16 beds. According to project details, MTCC will carry out all structural and finishing works, including land levelling, concrete, masonry, and tiling.

The ceremony was attended by Huraa MP Anaara Naeem, MTCC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamsheed, council members and senior officials. With a population of around 1,380 residents, the Government states the new building will expand healthcare capacity on the island and improve access to services without the need for travel to other locations, as part of the national initiative to upgrade island health centres.
