Reclamation works at Rasmalé Land Reclamation Project Site A have reached 51.64 per cent completion, according to the latest update shared by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

Current project data shows that 71 hectares have been reclaimed out of the planned 137.5 hectares at Rasmalé Site A.

Reclamation activities at the site are being carried out using Cristóbal Colón, one of the world’s two largest Trailer Suction Hopper Dredgers, with a capacity of 46,000 cubic metres. The vessel is operated by Jan De Nul.

MACL officially commenced reclamation works at Rasmalé Site A on 1 December 2025. The reclaimed area is being developed across 12 designated zones.

Rasmalé is a flagship housing and urban development initiative aimed at easing long-standing housing constraints in the Greater Malé Region.

The Rasmalé development forms a key component of the Government’s housing strategy to expand land availability and support sustainable urban growth in the capital region.
