The Maldives Police Service has confirmed the arrest of another suspect in connection with the robbery at Velana International Airport Terminal 1.

The incident, reported at 4:45 am on 27 October 2025, involved an attempted escape by suspects using a speedboat, which was later seized by police.

On 13 January 2026, police arrested Ismail Sirhan, 30, in relation to the case. He has been remanded in custody for 30 days.

Authorities had previously arrested seven individuals, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to eight.

Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing as efforts continue to uncover further details surrounding the robbery.
