Yes Maldives Pvt Ltd has been awarded the contract to construct an extension to the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE).
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held on Wednesday, with Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu signing on behalf of the Ministry. Yes Maldives was represented by its Director, Ahlam Rushdhy.
Under the contract, Yes Maldives will construct a seven-storey annex building on vacant land located on the southern side of the CHSE Malé campus, at a cost of MVR 51.6 million.
The new building will include 15 classrooms, four science laboratories, a staff room, a senior teachers’ room and administrative offices. Once completed, the extension is expected to significantly expand the school’s capacity.
The project will effectively double the physical space of CHSE Malé, enabling the school to accommodate a larger number of students seeking to pursue A-Level studies.
CHSE Malé reopened in 2024 and enrolled around 800 new students when it resumed operations. The expansion is expected to further ease demand for higher secondary education in the capital.
