Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has introduced the Velana Awards for the aviation industry, marking the first time a dedicated awards programme has been launched in the Maldives to recognise key partners of Velana International Airport (VIA).

MACL said the awards aim to acknowledge the contributions of airlines and service partners in strengthening the Maldives’ position as a leading destination for travellers and business. The Velana Awards will be held as an annual event to recognise outstanding performance across different areas of airport operations and services.

A total of 22 awards will be presented at this year’s ceremony across three main categories: Passenger Services, Cargo Operations and Lounge Services. In addition, MACL said a special award will be presented to recognise the Airline of the Year for overall performance and contribution to connectivity and service quality at Velana International Airport.

The inaugural Velana Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on 12 February at Crossroads Maldives.
