President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared that 2025 will mark an unprecedented year for housing construction in the Maldives, announcing this whilst visiting Himmafushi as part of his Male' Atoll tour today.
During a meeting with the residential community of Himmafushi, the President stated that housing development will spearhead the Government's agenda in 2025, followed by substantial investments in the education and healthcare sectors through the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP)'s New Policy Initiative. This announcement addresses pressing accommodation needs in the region, particularly in Himmafushi.
The President also outlined a strategic approach to infrastructure development, focusing first on completing water and sewerage systems before proceeding with road construction. This plan also includes the restoration of damaged roads across multiple islands, including Himmafushi, aligning with the President's manifesto commitments.
To support economic growth, the Government plans to partner with local councils, emphasising development in tourism, fishing, agriculture and other industries.
Following the meeting, the President inaugurated a WAMCO safe waste management facility in Himmafushi.
