Non-Resident Ambassador nominations sent to Parliament Committee

The nominations of five Non-Resident Ambassadors have been forwarded to Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Relations for review.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has proposed the following appointments:

  • Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed as non-resident Ambassador to Cuba
  • Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed as non-resident Ambassador to Brazil
  • Shiruzimath Sameer as non-resident Ambassador to Mexico
  • Ahmed Sareer as non-resident Ambassador to Oman
  • Mohamed Hussain Shareef as non-resident Ambassador to Armenia

Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed currently serves as the Maldives’ Ambassador to the United States, a position he has held since 2022.

Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed is the Maldives’ Permanent Representative to the United Arab Emirates. Shiruzimath Sameer is serving as Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda.

Ahmed Sareer currently represents the Maldives as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, while Mohamed Hussain Shareef serves as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

The committee will review the nominations before they are presented to Parliament for a decision.
