The Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works has stated that 53,895 cases of canned tuna have been distributed in the Greater Malé area as part of the Government’s Ramadan Hadhiyaa programme.

The distribution of the canned tuna cases in Malé area began on 24 January. Although the main distribution process concluded on the night of the 11th of this month, households that have not yet collected their canned tuna cases for any reason can continue to do so from the MIFCO centre in Malé.

Canned tuna cases will be available for collection every evening from 8:30pm to 11:00pm at the MIFCO outlet. Distribution from the centre will continue until the first day of Ramadan.

There are 65,230 registered domestic electricity meters in the Malé area. Based on information shared by the Ministry, more than 11,700 households have yet to collect their canned tuna cases.

Distribution of canned tuna cases is also ongoing in many islands across the atolls, with local councils overseeing the process in their respective islands.
