The Government has strongly condemned recent attacks targeting energy infrastructure in the Middle East, warning that such actions risk further destabilising the region and threaten global energy security.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Maldives condemns attacks by Israel targeting energy facilities linked to Iran’s South Pars gas field, which forms part of a shared natural gas reservoir, describing the attacks as a blatant violation of international law.

The Government also condemned Iran’s attacks targeting commercial and energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait, stating that such actions undermine regional stability and highlight the importance of safeguarding critical infrastructure, including oil installations, desalination plants and airports.

The Maldives reiterated its call for the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts, including securing an immediate ceasefire, to restore peace, stability and security in the region.
