The State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Corporation has launched a dedicated 24-hour hotline to assist the public in obtaining essential medicines to improve access to healthcare services across the Maldives.
The hotline, 1505, became operational today and is available nationwide, allowing individuals to seek assistance, obtain information on medicines and place requests for required medication, particularly in cases where access is limited.
According to the company, the service is designed to address challenges faced by residents in securing basic medicines, with Managing Director Dr Shah Mahir stating that ensuring a sustainable and reliable supply of medicines remains a key priority, while the hotline also provides a platform for the public to report difficulties in accessing treatment.
In addition to the hotline, the company has introduced a digital portal through which users can request medicines and track their applications, with the system integrated with the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) to streamline processing and improve service delivery.
The company said the service will facilitate the identification of medical needs across regions and support arrangements to supply medicines to all parts of the country, while also enabling verification of orders and providing updates on availability and collection.
The State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Corporation was established in September 2025 to strengthen the import, distribution and management of medicines, medical consumables and equipment, with responsibilities for medicine supply previously handled by the State Trading Organisation (STO), in efforts to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential medicines nationwide.
