Newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to Sweden, Aishath Shaan Shakir, has presented her Letters of Credence to King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Royal Palace in Stockholm on 16 April 2026.

During the audience, Ambassador Shaan conveyed greetings and good wishes from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, as well as from the Government and people of the Maldives. She also highlighted the longstanding friendship between the Maldives and Sweden and expressed her commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest during her tenure.

While in Stockholm, Ambassador Shaan met with senior officials from Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs to discuss ways to advance bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in multilateral forums.

She was accompanied by Second Secretary at the Maldives Embassy in Berlin, Saifulla Waleed.

Ambassador Shaan also serves as the Maldives’ Ambassador to Germany, and Non-Resident Ambassador to Norway and Finland.
