Voter turnout reaches 21% by 10 a.m. in second round of Council and WDC elections

The Elections Commission has stated that voter turnout in the second round of the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections reached 20.89 per cent as of 10:00 a.m.
The Commission revealed that 1,273 eligible voters had cast their ballots by that time, while 4,820 voters, or 79.11 per cent, had yet to vote. Of those who participated, 543 were women and 730 were men.
The second round is being held in constituencies where candidates received an equal number of votes in the initial round. A total of 14 ballot boxes have been placed across the five constituencies.
The Elections Commission noted that 6,172 ballot papers were printed for the vote, which is being conducted to fill five positions. These include a councillor seat for the Dhadimagu constituency in Fuvahmulah City, a council seat in Baa Dhonfan, and Women’s Development Committee positions in Haa Alifu Kelaa, Haa Dhaalu Neykurendhoo, and Laamu Maavah.
