PNC secures three seats so far in second round of Local Council and WDC elections

The People’s National Congress (PNC) has secured victory in three of the five constituencies where voting was held today in the second round of the Local Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections.
Results counted so far show the PNC winning three races.
In Haa Alifu Kelaa, PNC candidate Hawwa Fazna won the election for president of the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), defeating Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Mahudiyya Adam.
The PNC also secured the WDC member seat in Haa Dhaalu Neykurendhoo, with its candidate Fathimath Riuza defeating independent candidate Fathimath Nishadha.
A third win for the PNC came in Laamu Maavah, where its candidate Fathimath Shafiya won the WDC member seat against MDP candidate Mariyam Maisha.
Results are yet to be confirmed in two constituencies. These include the election for a councillor in the Dhadimagu constituency of Fuvahmulah City, and the election for a women’s reserved seat in Baa Dhonfan Council.
In Fuvahmulah’s Dhadimagu constituency, PNC candidate Aishath Abdul Gadhir is contesting against independent candidate Sheeza Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, in Baa Dhonfan, the women’s reserved council seat is being contested by independent candidate Aishath Muna and MDP candidate Aminath Rafah.
