The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has stated that more than 160 plots have been handed over to recipients in Gulhifalhu so far.
The Ministry said the resumption of plot handovers follows revisions to the Gulhifalhu land use plan, aimed at ensuring sufficient space for essential services needed to support the area’s future population.
Under the revised plan, plots are being demarcated in line with the updated framework, with both administrative processes and physical handovers now progressing. Agreements have been signed with 2,972 recipients, while registration is ongoing. Of these, 169 recipients have already taken possession of their plots.
Seven plot sizes have been allocated under the programme, ranging from 1,250 square feet to 3,650 square feet.
The land use plan for Gulhifalhu has been revised three times and includes designated areas for residential plots, social housing and essential services. Land has also been allocated for education and healthcare facilities, as well as industrial use.
In addition, plans include the development of parks and recreational spaces to create a livable environment for future residents.
Alongside plot handovers, development of the area has commenced. The Government has assigned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and the Road Development Corporation (RDC) to carry out road construction and establish utility infrastructure in Gulhifalhu.
