Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises Moosa Zameer has stated that 93 per cent of the pay harmonisation process for State employees has been completed under the Government’s National Pay Framework.
Speaking at a press briefing at the President’s Office, Minister Zameer said the majority of employees identified for salary alignment have now been transitioned, with final preparations underway to complete the remaining 7 per cent.
He said the President’s Office has instructed that the process be expedited to ensure all eligible employees benefit from the revised pay structure in the shortest possible time.
The National Pay Framework, developed by the National Pay Commission under the National Pay Policy Act, is designed to standardise salaries and allowances across the public sector. The framework is expected to bring changes to the pay structure of more than 20,000 State employees.
According to the Ministry of Finance, employees whose salaries decrease as a result of the transition will receive a migration allowance based on criteria set by the Pay Commission.
The ministry added that the framework aims to replace inconsistent overtime-based systems with a more structured salary model, while promoting efficient use of working hours, improved income stability and better work-life balance for employees.
