First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has said that preparing for Qur’an competitions not only improves recitation skills in Tajweed but also strengthens faith and instils patience and good moral character.
She made the remarks while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Qur’an and Madhaha Competition 1447 organised for employees of Waste Management Corporation Limited.
In her address, the First Lady emphasised that as a 100 per cent Islamic nation, it is important for every Maldivian to uphold love and respect for the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet, noting that such competitions provide lasting personal and spiritual benefits beyond showcasing ability.
She also commended WAMCO employees for their dedication in maintaining cleanliness across the Maldives, praising the company’s management for promoting Islamic values and strengthening religious awareness among staff.
A total of 57 employees participated in this year’s competition, including participants from the atolls who joined through online platforms. According to WAMCO, 46 individual entries and five group submissions were received.
The First Lady congratulated the winners and encouraged participants to continue striving for excellence, while presenting prizes and trophies to first-place winners at the ceremony.
