The Maldives Airports Company Limited has announced that Swiss airline Edelweiss Air will increase flight frequencies to the Maldives during the upcoming summer season.

MACL said that in addition to its existing services, Edelweiss Air will operate two weekly flights from July 4 to September 13, scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays, bringing the total number of additional flights during the period to 21.

Edelweiss Air, Switzerland’s third-largest airline, has been operating to the Maldives since November 4, 2000, marking 25 years of service to the destination.

The increased frequency is expected to support tourism growth, with industry observers viewing the expansion as a reflection of continued demand for the Maldives as a long-haul destination.
