The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments has announced that the number of development projects currently under implementation has risen to 79.

The projects include the construction of 45 mosques, 12 Islamic centres, 16 Quran centres and six waqf buildings.

The ministry stated that projects are progressing across the country and that considerable efforts are being made to ensure their timely completion.

Among the ministry’s flagship initiatives are the construction of the Darul Arqam building in Malé and the Darussalam Waqf Building in Hulhumalé.

The ministry is also working to commence construction of the largest mosque ever to be built in the Maldives in Hulhumalé by September this year. Funding for the project has already been secured from external sources.
