Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam has stated that the recent parliamentary vote to approve cabinet ministers reflects confidence in the Government.

He made the remarks while speaking at a function by the People’s National Congress (PNC). Minister Shiyam said the vote in the People’s Majlis was effectively a test of whether the Government retained the confidence of elected representatives.

According to the minister, the outcome of the vote demonstrated that Members of Parliament supported the Administration. He added that the decision taken in Parliament should be viewed as an indication of institutional confidence in the government.

Minister Shiyam also criticised reactions that followed the vote, stating that differing views within political ranks should be addressed constructively. He said actions taken against members over their voting decisions raise broader questions about internal political practices.

He further alleged that some responses were politically motivated, adding that national decisions should be guided by broader public interest rather than individual or factional considerations.
