Over MVR 550,000 recovered in theft and robbery cases

The Maldives Police Service has reported that MVR 559,879 worth of cash and items were recovered in connection with theft and robbery cases in the Greater Malé Region.
Police statistics revealed that the recoveries were made between April 26 and May 2, 2026, as part of ongoing investigations into reported cases. The total includes both cash and the estimated value of items retrieved.
Police said the highest amount was recovered by Galolhu Police, totalling MVR 278,910. This was followed by MVR 184,800 recovered by Maafannu Police, MVR 94,169 by Henveiru Police, and MVR 2,000 by Villimalé Police.
Authorities noted that the recoveries were made through coordinated efforts in response to cases reported by the public, as part of measures to address theft and robbery incidents.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, particularly in light of increasing scam and theft-related cases.
