During a meeting with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to discuss key developmental issues, the South Ari Atoll Council highlighted challenges affecting the region, including renewable energy, healthcare, tourism and overall growth initiatives.
The primary points of discussion included the installation of solar panels at the school to enhance energy efficiency and the potential allocation of ADh. Lonuboi to generate additional revenue for the Council.
The Council emphasised the need for improved healthcare facilities, transport services and tourism development across the atoll. A shortage of picnic islands was identified as a pressing concern, with members urging the Government to establish such facilities.
In response to these issues, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed the Administration's commitment to addressing the Council's concerns. He highlighted the Government's efforts to enhance transportation services through the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) initiative and assured that matters raised during the meeting would be prioritised.
The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the South Ari Atoll Council on December 15, 2024.
