The ADh Kun’burudhoo Island Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) met with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to discuss the key challenges facing the island, with housing being identified as the core issue.
During the meeting, Council members expressed their disappointment that no President had visited the island in 15 years, highlighting a lack of attention to their pressing concerns.
Several key issues were raised in the meeting, including the need for expanded space at the island’s school and harbour, as well as investments in waste management and the sports sector. The Council also emphasised the urgency of addressing the housing shortage on the island.
In response, President Dr Muizzu assured the Council that he would fulfil his pledges and address the concerns raised in the meeting.
Additionally, Cabinet Ministers accompanying the President also provided updates on ongoing development projects in Kun’burudhoo.
The meeting took place on December 15, 2024, at the Secretariat of the South Ariatholhu Atoll Council.
