Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, reiterated the Maldives’ unwavering commitment to the One-China Principle in his opening remarks at the Group Meeting of the Third China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Development Cooperation

The meeting, held in Kunming, was presided over by Wang Yong Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Expressing his gratitude to the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government for their warm hospitality, the Vice President praised China as a reliable friend of the Maldives.

He highlighted the importance of the One-China Principle as the cornerstone of stable diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The Vice President also commended the forum as a vital platform for fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Indian Ocean Region countries and China, particularly in advancing sustainable blue economy initiatives.

He also joined a group photo with Chinese government officials and international dignitaries after the meeting, underscoring the spirit of partnership and diplomacy.
