First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stated that strengthening support systems for families remains important to ensuring the wellbeing of parents, children and caregivers. 

In a post shared to celebrate the International Day of Families, the First Lady highlighted the role families play in building stronger communities and shaping a brighter future.

She noted that families continue to face evolving social and economic challenges, stressing the importance of strengthening systems that provide protection, care and support for those responsible for raising and caring for family members.

The First Lady further stated that investing in the holistic development and wellbeing of families represents an investment in the foundation of a more prosperous Maldives. She also highlighted the importance of preserving family values, care and unity within society.

The International Day of Families, observed annually on 15 May, highlights the importance of family relationships and the role families play in social development and community wellbeing.
