A total of 344 youths have officially graduated from the second batch of the National Service Programme after completing a 14-week intensive training course.
The graduation ceremony was held in Maafilaafushi and was attended by Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed.
The second batch of the programme began with 350 participants, including 286 males and 64 females from 112 islands across the Maldives.
Certificates were awarded to 344 participants who successfully completed the programme.
In addition to the main training, selected participants who met required performance standards received Level 3 certificates in civic education and leadership, community volunteer firefighting and basic first aid.
The programme included lessons on Islamic ethics, social conduct, responsible citizenship and Maldivian national identity, alongside practical life skills training.
The National Service Programme is a key initiative introduced by the Government aimed at developing disciplined and capable youth through structured education and training.
The programme also seeks to strengthen nationalism, promote Islamic values and prepare young people to respond effectively during national emergencies and disasters.
The first batch of the programme also produced 344 graduates. Some participants from the first batch are currently undergoing specialised training in Kihaadhoo, while employment opportunities have been arranged for other graduates.
