President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated Canada's new Governor General, Louise Arbour, following her assumption of office as the country's 31st Governor General and Commander-in-Chief.

In a message sent to Arbour, the President conveyed warm congratulations on behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives as she assumed the responsibilities of the office.

The President expressed confidence that Canada would continue to prosper and uphold its longstanding values during her tenure. He also voiced hope that the friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Canada would continue to strengthen, bringing mutual benefits to both countries and their peoples.

Concluding the message, President Dr Muizzu extended his personal best wishes for Arbour's good health and wellbeing, as well as continued peace and progress for the people of Canada.
