Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has opened a new passenger rest and service area at Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport, expanding facilities and improving comfort for departing passengers.

The newly developed area provides around 750 square metres of additional seating space on the first floor, featuring various seating options to offer passengers a more comfortable environment while waiting for their flights.

The facility also includes a dedicated 136-square-metre children’s play area equipped with multi-level play structures, woven mesh tunnels, rope and ring climbing features and a ball pit, providing a safer and more engaging space for children and families travelling through the terminal.

A new Bank of Maldives (BML) service facility has also been introduced within the area, offering foreign exchange services and USD issuance services for Maldivian travellers.
