President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with Mr Jin Liqun, President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), on the sidelines of COP29 on Wednesday.

During their meeting, President Dr Muizzu expressed deep appreciation for AIIB’s ongoing support, emphasising its crucial role in advancing key Maldivian initiatives, including the 20-Year Development Master Plan. He highlighted the Maldives’ long-term objectives and underscored the importance of sustained AIIB involvement to further climate adaptation efforts and achieve the nation’s ambitious targets.

Mr Jin reaffirmed AIIB’s commitment to supporting the Maldives' journey towards sustainable development and resilience. The two leaders discussed the need for sustainable resource diversification and agreed to strengthen future collaboration in areas aligned with the Maldives’ climate and development priorities.

This meeting underscores the strong partnership between the Maldives and AIIB, with both parties dedicated to advancing sustainable development in the face of global climate challenges.
