In his Presidential Address at the first session of the People's Majlis for 2025, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed the nation's steadfast position against any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza's territory.
The President highlighted the country's diplomatic engagement, noting that it had submitted a Declaration of Intervention in support of South Africa's application against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
He also drew attention to the nation's role in backing a crucial United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution passed on 19 December 19, 2024. This resolution sought an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on Israel's obligations regarding humanitarian aid delivery to affected Palestinians.
Emphasising the fundamental rights of Palestinians, President Dr Muizzu reiterated that Gaza's territory rightfully belongs to its people. He outlined his Government's commitment to three core principles: adherence to pre-1967 borders, recognition of East Jerusalem as Palestine's capital, and support for Palestinian statehood.
In his address, the President pledged his Government's continued diplomatic, moral and humanitarian support to the Palestinian people in their pursuit of self-determination and sovereignty.
