Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef attended the plenary session of the World Governments Summit 2025, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The annual summit, themed 'Shaping Future Governments,' brings together world leaders, international organisations, and private sector representatives to explore innovative solutions to global challenges and foster international collaboration.
With a strong focus on governance, sustainability, and economic development, the summit highlights six objectives: effective governance and accountability, financing the future and the global economy, climate crisis mitigation and resilient cities, human-centric futures and capacity building, global health transformation, and emerging frontiers and the future. These themes reflect the growing need for adaptive and forward-thinking policies in an increasingly complex global landscape.
As part of the three-day event, taking place from February 11 -13, the Vice President is scheduled to deliver a statement at the Climate Change Forum. His participation sheds light on the Maldives' commitment to climate action, a pressing issue for the island nation, which remains among the most vulnerable to rising sea levels.
The Maldives continues to advocate for stronger international cooperation in addressing climate resilience and sustainability, reinforcing the need for urgent global action.
The World Governments Summit 2025 serves as a critical platform for dialogue and policymaking, offering an opportunity for leaders to shape governance models that are more responsive to emerging challenges. Through active engagement in discussions on climate change, economic growth, and governance, the Maldives seeks to contribute to shaping a more sustainable and resilient future.
