The Maldives and Turkey have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in the fields of tourism and culture through high-level discussions aimed at fostering closer bilateral relations.
The talks were held in Ankara at Turkey’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture, where Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, Maldives’ Ambassador to Turkey, met with Turkish Minister for Tourism and Culture Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. The meeting provided a platform to explore new opportunities for collaboration, reflecting the shared interest of both nations in expanding their partnership.
During the discussions, both parties discussed the significance of strengthening cooperation in tourism and cultural exchange. They examined various avenues to deepen engagement, particularly in facilitating investment in the Maldivian tourism sector. A key point of discussion was the potential for increasing the number of direct flights between the two countries, which would enhance connectivity and further stimulate tourism and economic ties.
Ambassador Latheef was accompanied by Abdul Waris Saeed, Deputy Ambassador of the Maldives Embassy in Turkey, and Ismail Niyaz, Second Secretary of the Embassy.
