The National Awards Committee has opened nominations for the ‘National Award for Public Service’ on Sunday.
Applications are open to individuals who have dedicated over 35 years of service to the Government, state-owned enterprises, or companies where the Government holds a majority share.
According to the award criteria published in the Government Gazette, nominations can be submitted by organisations or individual applicants. The National Awards Committee will assess nominees based on the quality of their work, contributions to their respective fields, and overall impact on Government development.
The committee has urged all applicants to ensure that their submissions include complete information and necessary supporting documents.
The award, conferred by the President, includes a commemorative shield, a badge of honour, and a certificate in recognition of long-standing service.
As in previous years, the President has shared a list of long-serving state employees with the committee. This year, the list includes individuals with over 42 years of service, compared to last year’s 43-year threshold.
In 2024, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu conferred the National Award for Public Service upon 53 recipients, recognising their decades of commitment to the Maldivian State. The award continues to serve as one of the highest honours for long-standing public service in the country.
Nominations for the are open until 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 18, 2025, through the designated portal.
