Vice President concludes trip to Dubai

Vice President His Excellency Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has returned to Male' after attending the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During the three-day summit, he participated in several high-profile events. In his compelling address at the Climate Change Forum, the Vice President emphasised the urgency of climate action, stating: "Climate disasters do not wait for political negotiations, intensifying storms do not align with economic cycles, and rising temperatures do not recognise borders."
The Vice President outlined President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's vision to generate 33 per cent of the Maldives' electricity from renewable sources by 2028, detailing how the Energy Roadmap 2024 to 2033 would guide this transition.
Her Excellency Amna Al Dahak, UAE's Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and His Excellency Max Andonirina Fontaine, Madagascar's Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, also attended the Climate Change Forum.
At the Plenary Session of the Global Government Excellence Award, the Vice President joined His Excellency Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh's Government, who addressed global political affairs and Bangladesh's economic revival. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, presented the Best Minister in the World award during this session.
The Vice President also engaged in the Government Experience Exchange Forum with His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini and Her Excellency Željika Cvijanović, Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This meeting highlighted the Maldives' successful three-year partnership with the UAE's Government Experience Exchange Programme, which has trained 128 government employees.
The three-day summit concluded on February 13, 2025.
