The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has announced plans to host a Bodu Beru (traditional drum) competition as part of the 'Dhiveheenge Ufehduntherikamuge Maurazu' scheduled for May this year.
The Bodu Beru competition will be organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
According to BCC, the decision to include a Bodu Beru competition aims to showcase the richness of Maldivian history and culture, while nurturing new talent in the field through competitive performance.
The competition will offer cash prizes to winners, and BCC has stated that registration opportunities will be announced shortly.
The exhibition has opened applications for 15 categories across seven sectors, further divided into 81 sub-categories. BCC confirmed that submissions will be accepted for each category.
To promote the 'Dhiveheenge Ufehduntherikamuge Maurazu,' a cycling event was held on Sunday in Addu City, drawing significant participation from local youth across the connected islands.
The exhibition is designed to provide local creators access to new markets and opportunities for innovation development, alongside showcasing international businesses, investors, and creative works from developed nations.
BCC stated that under the guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, they are working extensively with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to ensure the exhibition comprehensively demonstrates creativity and artistry.
The 'Dhiveheenge Ufehduntherikamuge Maurazu' will run from May 23 to 31, 2025.
