The national airline, Maldivian, will begin seaplane flights to Baa Fulhadhoo on March 31, coinciding with the upcoming Eid holiday.

These flights will expand Maldivian's services to Baa Atoll, providing easier access to nearby islands including Baa Fehendhoo and Baa Goidhoo.

The journey from Male to Fulhadhoo takes 25 minutes by seaplane, offering passengers aerial views of the Maldives' landscape.

Ticket sales have already begun for the new route at a one way fare of MVR 1,099 for locals. Customers can purchase tickets through the Maldivian website or by contacting their 24-hour call centre at 1671.

The launch comes as demand for travel to outer atolls traditionally increases during Eid celebrations.

Maldivian has previously operated flights to Baa Fulhadhoo and typically serves tourists traveling to resorts across the Maldives. The airline currently operates a fleet of 11 seaplanes.

The addition of flights to this inhabited island in Baa Atoll is expected to benefit the region's growing tourism sector.
