The Maldives Girl Guides Association, in collaboration with the Singapore Girl Guides successfully hosted the Girl Adventure Environment Camp in K. Huraa.

The camp, supported by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, brought together girl guides from both countries to explore pressing environmental issues, including the impact of climate change on small island states, animal habitats, and shifting species distributions. Participants engaged in discussions, workshops, and hands-on activities aimed at fostering environmental stewardship and awareness.

A key highlight of the camp was an educational visit to the mangrove area in Huraa. The girls conducted research to understand the ecological significance of mangroves and the challenges they face, such as habitat degradation and rising sea levels. The activity emphasised the role of mangroves in protecting coastal ecosystems and mitigating climate change.

Participants described the camp as a transformative experience, offering them a chance to learn practical ways to address environmental challenges while building cross-cultural connections. The Ministry expressed its hope that initiatives like these will inspire young people to become advocates for conservation and sustainability.

The Girl Adventure Environment Camp showcased the power of international collaboration in equipping the next generation with the knowledge and passion to protect the planet.
