The Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee has approved the nomination of Aishath Asna Hamdi for the position of Deputy Governor at the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu had earlier nominated Asna, currently a Managing Director at MMA, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Ahmed Imaadh Latheef. Latheef stepped down after an impeachment motion was filed against him in Parliament.

Asna heads the Finance Sector Development (FSD) department at MMA and brings over 20 years of experience in the financial sector. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of East London and a Master’s degree in Business Finance from the University of Nottingham.
