A police recruit who was found unconscious during training at the Police Training Centre in Dhaalu Vaanee has passed away.

The 34-year-old recruit was taking part in the 40th Police Initial Training Course when he was discovered unresponsive in the barracks at 4:21 a.m. on May 4, during the routine morning wake-up call. He was immediately taken to the on-site medical room and later transferred to Dhaalu Atoll Hospital for further treatment.

Following initial care, he was airlifted to Malé and admitted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where he remained on a ventilator.

Police confirmed that he passed away on Wednesday evening while under treatment at IGMH. No further details have been released at this time.
