A 31-year-old woman critically injured in a traffic accident in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo is now receiving intensive care in Malé following complications after brain surgery.

The accident occurred on April 27 and involved a collision between a motorcycle and a car, according to the Maldives Police Service. The woman, who was riding the motorcycle at the time, sustained severe head injuries.

She was initially treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Thinadhoo Hospital before being transferred to Malé for further medical care. While her condition showed some signs of improvement, she later developed an infection following brain surgery, leading to a serious deterioration in her health.

Authorities confirmed that she remains in the ICU in critical condition.

Police have summoned the driver of the car involved in the accident for questioning. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
