A 46-year-old man was found dead in the bathroom of a fourth-floor residence in Henveiru, Malé, according to the Maldives Police Service.

Police confirmed the discovery late Wednesday and said an investigation is underway. The deceased has been identified as Mohamed Mufeed of Galolhu Lanka.

While unconfirmed reports suggest the body was severely decomposed, police have not commented on the condition of the body.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further details surrounding the circumstances of the death.
