Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has officially retired from the Maldives Police Service with honours, following a career spanning nearly two decades in law enforcement.
A ceremony marking his retirement was held on Wednesday at the Iskandar Building, presided over by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan.
During the ceremony, Shujau was presented with an honorary commemorative plaque and a retirement card. The plaque, awarded by the Maldives Police Service to honourably retired commissioners, features the colours and medals received during service, along with elements of the Commissioner’s uniform and official identification.
The retirement card, given to all officers retiring honourably, serves as a form of identification and grants access to police premises.
Shujau began his career in the Police Service in September 2006, following eight years in the education sector. He was promoted to a commissioned rank in 2008 and went on to serve in various key areas including training, operations, intelligence, and investigations. He also held several leadership and management roles within the organisation.
Throughout his career, Shujau represented the Maldives and the Police Service at professional forums both nationally and internationally.
He was appointed Commissioner of Police on December 24, 2023, by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. Shujau resigned on 26 April 26, 2025, and has now formally concluded his service.
