The Ministry of Finance and Planning has opened the bidding process for the construction of 18 additional classrooms at Ghaazee School in Hulhumalé, in a move aimed at addressing the growing demand for school space in the area.
According to the Ministry, the project is part of a broader effort to ease overcrowding in schools across Hulhumalé, where pressure on infrastructure has increased significantly due to population growth.
The Ministry of Finance announced that contractors will be selected through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) process. Interested parties are required to submit their bids via the Beelan Portal before May 25, 2025. The bid opening is scheduled for May 26 and a bid security of MVR 121,000 must be submitted as part of the application.
The Ministry of Education stated that schools in Hulhumalé are currently facing the highest demand in the country. In response to this, the Ministry has also announced plans to begin construction of two new schools in Hulhumalé within the year to further ease the burden on existing facilities.
