The Presidential Commission has launched an online platform to facilitate the sharing of information related to the case after a young woman, Hawwa Yumn Rasheed, was found collapsed on a rooftop in Henveiru, Malé City, on April 18, 2025.
The Commission, which is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, announced today that any information, photographs, videos, or other relevant documents may be submitted via the newly established portal. Additionally, members of the public may submit enquiries regarding the Commission’s work through this platform. Access requires authentication via eFaas.
The Presidential Commission comprises five members: former Attorney General Dr Mohammed Munawwar, who serves as Chair; Brigadier General (Retd.) Ahmed Mohamed; Dr Moosa Murad; Jabeen Mohamed; and Aminath Eenaas.
The Commission held its first press conference on April 30, where it affirmed its commitment to conducting the investigation with full independence. During the press briefing, Dr Munawwar emphasised the importance of transparency and announced the creation of the platform to foster open communication.
The President has tasked the Commission with thoroughly investigating the incident, examining the performance of relevant institutions, and providing recommendations based on its findings.
The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has arranged to assist with funding Yumn's further treatment, providing USD 25,000 (MVR 385,500).
