The Bank of Maldives (BML) has opened applications for the 2025 round of its Scholarship Fund, aimed at supporting Maldivian students pursuing undergraduate studies in banking and finance-related fields.

The scholarship offers full financial assistance to successful applicants who gain admission to a university ranked among the top 200 globally, as listed by the Times Higher Education University Rankings. Coverage includes tuition fees, a monthly stipend, visa and travel costs, as well as book and establishment allowances.

To qualify, applicants must be Maldivian citizens aged between 18 and 25, have passed all subjects in their A Level examinations, and must not be receiving any other scholarship at the time of application or during their studies. The programme is open to students planning to study disciplines such as banking, finance, accounting, financial technology, financial engineering, risk management, and financial analytics.

According to the Bank, the initiative is intended to help develop local expertise in the financial sector by enabling students to access world-class education. The fund is part of the Bank’s broader efforts to build professional capacity within the industry.

Since its launch in 2022, the scholarship has supported nine students, currently enrolled in institutions in countries such as the United Kingdom and Australia.

Applications for the 2025 intake will remain open until 10 June. Further details on the application process and eligibility are available on the Bank’s official website.
