Kendhoo Water and Sewerage Project nears completion

The Baa Kendhoo Water and Sewerage Project is approaching completion, according to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.
The Ministry has confirmed that eighty-eight per cent of the project’s work has been finalised. At present, the water and sewerage systems are undergoing testing and pre-commissioning processes to ensure operational readiness.
The full commissioning of the system is scheduled to take place in May.
Once completed, the project will provide water and sewerage connections to approximately 250 households through a newly constructed 4.88-kilometre sewerage network.
In addition, two pump stations and a sea outfall system will be installed to facilitate effective wastewater management. The project also includes the provision of machinery and equipment necessary for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the sewerage infrastructure.
As part of the development, a 5.26-kilometre water distribution network will be established on the island. Two water treatment plants, each with a capacity of 56 cubic metres per day, will be installed. To support water storage, two tanks with a capacity of 446 cubic metres each will be constructed, alongside an additional 450-cubic-metre tank designated for rainwater harvesting.
The Ministry has awarded the implementation contract to the Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Pvt Ltd, with a total project value of MVR 56.24 million.
