President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for the strategic use of global advancements in communication to generate revenue for the Maldives. His remarks were shared in a social media post marking World Communication and Information Day on May 17, 2025.

In his post, the President stated that the rapid development in the communications sector is being leveraged to promote the Maldives internationally and open up new revenue streams. He emphasised the importance of utilising these opportunities for national benefit.

Extending greetings to all professionals working in the communication and information dissemination sectors, President Dr Muizzu acknowledged their critical role in the country’s development and expressed his best wishes for their continued success.

World Communication and Information Day, observed globally on May 17, aims to raise awareness of key issues within the information society. This year’s theme is “Gender Equality in Digital Transformation”, highlighting the need for inclusive progress in the digital age.
