The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met) has issued a weather warning, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms across the country over the next three days.

The advisory, issued Saturday, warns that the intensifying westerly monsoon is likely to bring rough seas and strong winds, particularly affecting the central and northern atolls.

The Met office urged the public and seafarers to remain alert and monitor the latest weather updates.
