Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdullah Muththalib has announced that the list released on November 15, 2023, under the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme will be treated as the final list, with ineligible applicants to be removed by the Government.
Addressing the press conference today, Minister Dr Muththalib stated that the government has consistently worked to ensure that no eligible individual is deprived of housing and emphasised the commitment to prioritizing flats for the most deserving applicants.
He stated that the Government has now decided not to release a new list of beneficiaries of 4,000 flats.
The minister stated that the final list will be considered as the one released on November 15, 2023, but concerns raised by the ACC will be addressed. He assured that only eligible recipients will receive flats, and those who do not meet the criteria will be removed from the list.
The minister also addressed the issue of verifying 15 years of residence in the city, stating that if documents prove a person lived in the Malé City before 2007, they will be deemed eligible.
From March 1 to April 15, the Government accepted complaints on the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme list, receiving a total of 8,602 submissions.
