The Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage has launched a national logo design competition to commemorate 60 years of Maldivian independence, offering a prize of MVR 30,000 for the winning design.
According to the Ministry, submissions will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. on June 15, 2025. A detailed guideline has been issued outlining the key themes and requirements for the logo. The design must symbolise Islam, the Dhivehi language, Maldivian culture, national identity, and the country’s sovereignty.
In addition, the logo should reflect the significance of 60 years of independence, highlighting both the progress achieved over the past six decades and the nation’s aspirations for continued development. It must incorporate either the national colours or shades of blue to represent the Maldives’ natural environment, particularly the ocean.
The logo should be adaptable for use across various platforms, including print materials, badges, stickers, T-shirts, electronic media, and animation. The Ministry has also published the evaluation criteria, which include 30 marks for technical quality and design alignment, 30 marks for how well the logo symbolises 60 years of independence, 20 marks for creativity and innovation, and 20 marks for how well it reflects Maldivian culture and identity.
The Ministry expressed hope for widespread participation and stated that it is looking forward to showcasing designs that strongly represent the spirit and values of the Maldives.
