Two men sustained serious injuries in a traffic collision on Laamu Link Road last night, according to the Maldives Police Service.

The accident occurred at 7:03 p.m. when a motorcycle travelling from north to south on Gamu Link Road collided with a car.

Police confirmed that both individuals on the motorcycle, 44-year-old Maldivian men, suffered severe injuries. The cyclist sustained fractures in two places on his left leg and multiple rib fractures. The pillion rider also broke ribs in two places and sustained fractures in his left leg.

The 62-year-old Maldivian man driving the car was unharmed.

Authorities said both the vehicles were significantly damaged in the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
